Dialogues in the Quokka Family
My Little Money Friends
A Simple Lesson on Opportunity Cost
This may be your children’s first picture book on personal finance!
Through the experience of going shopping with his father (i.e., Father the Quokka), Nomolos, a 4-year-old quokka, learned that money is limited, and he can buy only the thing that is needed most.
This is the economic concept of opportunity cost, and such a scenario provides an excellent chance to educate our children about making wise choices, especially when managing our expenditures.
In the story, the banknotes can talk, and Nomolos makes friends with them. Hopefully, this can convince the children that money is a tool that helps us if we use it wisely.
